![]() ![]() The best thing to change the text layer to in this case is a shape layer, as this will let us edit individual letters and will preserve the sharp edges of the text no matter how we edit it. ![]() ![]() Then I tried, in the timeline panel, changing the motion from 'custom' to 'rotate', but the problem this time was that when i tried rotating it, it disregarded my anchor point no matter. Therefore, if we convert the layer to a different format, then we can preserve the appearance of the text but give ourselves more capabilities. I move my ticker over the keyframe, hit ctrl+T, and rotate, but the rotation is applied to the entire animation and not just that keyframe. So, how can we solve this issue and give ourselves the ability to edit individual letters? Well, the issue occurs because Photoshop does not let you select individual letters in a line of text when it is in the text format. If it is locked, click on the lock icon on the right. Learn how to easily crop and rotate an active layer or the contents of a selection in Photoshop on the iPad. We can see this when we hit Ctrl + T / Cmd + T, as doing so causes a transformation box to appear around the entire piece of text, rather than creating boxes around each letter. Go to the Layers panel in the bottom right corner and click on the layer. (Photoshop CS6) Choose File> Place to import files as Smart Objects into an open Photoshop document. Now duplicate that hand layer, and enter FreeTransform again: drag the center marker to the bottom center handle, and it will rotate around that point. Since all the letters will probably be on the same text layer, you cannot apply edits to individual ones, just the layer as a whole. Choose File > Open As Smart Object, select a file, and click Open. It must be selected then the toggle refence point becomes active and can be set accordingly. It may appear to be be greyed out but it should be clickable. Next to toggle refence point there is a check-box. If toggle reference point is greyed it needs to be activated. What if we want to rotate or flip just one letter within a body of text? First click the image to be rotated < This brings up the proper menu. Whilst the basic options offered by Photoshop that let you apply transformations to text are useful for editing full words or bodies of text, you can run into issues if you want to transform individual letters. ![]()
